Pessimistic? Absolutely not. Just realistic. You can experience a profit after a boozy evening out with your compatriots and be blessed sufficiently to hook a 25 minute toss at a on fire craps table. Hang on to that adventure seeing that it is as short-lived as it gets if you continually consume alcohol and wager. The pair simply do not mix.
Keeping your money at home is a tiny bit drastic, but defensive actions for dramatic actions is a requirement. If you play to profit, then don’t drink and gamble.
