Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features many conveniences accompanying the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
